Abstract

One of the most frequent paintings of the 10th and 11th centuries AH in Saadi's  books is the double-page painting, one of which shows dervishes in the courtyard of Saadi's tomb (picture on the right) and the other shows people watching bathers in the underground pool near Saadi's tomb. It shows (picture on the left). The upcoming research is based on the assumption that the paintings of Dervishes dance (Sama) in the courtyard of Saadid's Tomb, in addition to their conformity with reality, express deep meanings of Saadi's thinking and mysticism and a step beyond Iranian mysticism. They can be analyzed using the topic of megametaphor in conceptual metaphors. Now, to achieve this goal and show the unique and realistic expression of these images, a brief review of the explanations, reports, and images from Saadi's tomb was done. In the next step, the images were analyzed using the extended metaphor of love as a journey, and in the next step, the mega metaphor of mysticism was analyzed as a romantic journey. With their help, micro metaphors such as Saadi as the path of love, cedar as the beginning of a journey, and Sama as a mystical path were identified in line with this image. In this way, in addition to deciphering the metaphorical layers of these images, based on this research, the topic of conceptual metaphors can be introduced as a suitable method for analyzing and reanalyzing images.
