Abstract
In traditional studies, metaphor is the substitution of words based on similarity in literary language. However, in contemporary linguistic studies, metaphor has developed to the level of the human perceptual system. In contemporary theory (conceptual metaphor), not only language but also the basis of perception is metaphorical, and linguistic metaphor is just the manifestation of metaphorical perception. Metaphorical perception means humans understand abstract concepts based on their experience with objective concepts. In this paper, the concept of love in Mersad al-Ebad, written by Najmal-Din Razi has been studied and analyzed based on the conceptual metaphor theory of Lakoff and Johnson. Studies show that ontological metaphors have the highest frequency in this text. There are also two central metaphors in this text: "Love is the King" and "Love is the Way," which are all other metaphors linked to them. Generally, the author's mystical ideas cause the formation of metaphors. The metaphorical mappings generally emphasize the authority and dominance of love and are related to the "Fanā" and "baqā". The paradoxical view of man and the concept of love in the various metaphors of love in this text expresses the prevailing idea about the "Vali" or "pir", which has the attributes of beauty and glory together and Reveals the Guidance of love. In other words, in Mersad al-Ebad, love is a valuable concept with a paradoxical nature that is destructive and revitalizing. Accordingly, the concept of love in Mersad al-Ebad and the concept of "vali" or "pir" in Sufi view functionally correspond.
