Abstract

Debate, as one of the well-known literary genres in world poetry, also has a very important place in Iranian poetry. This type has similarities with drama due to its elements and capacities, such as personality, conflict, dialogue, etc. One of the most important elements in these poems is the existence of a protagonist and antagonist. A personality that is attached to the status quo is standing in front of the force demanding change. Considering that central character and antagonist are more important than other art forms in drama, and until these two characters are not against each other with all their strength, an attractive work will not be formed. Therefore, this research aims to look at the identity of the protagonist and antagonistic persons in these selected poems based on the theoretical literature of drama world. The findings of this research show that the opposing parties in these debates are dynamic, knowledgeable, familiar with the community, multidimensional and willing to answer. This research proves that the characters in Parvin E'tesami debates have the same characteristics as in a drama. The audience is faced with different and new aspects of the identity of individuals, which is far from their expectations at the general level of society. This qualitative research has been carried out in a descriptive-analytical way, relying on library sources and scientific articles.
